Study annual migration paths of juvenile Atlantic bluefin tuna
Gone -- or going - fishin’? The Large Pelagics Research Center needs your help to improve scientific understanding of large pelagic species - including Atlantic bluefin tuna! With the help of recreational anglers, charter captains, and commercial fishers, they tag juvenile and adult tuna with conventional "spaghetti"-ID tags and electronic tags. This lets them study their behavior and movements, which are largely unknown. To date, 1,800 bluefin tuna have been tagged by over 1,400 fisher-people! The more tags, the better the researchers can inform the fishing community and management agencies alike. Hope you get hooked by this project!
