Help researchers spot flu and infectious outbreaks.

Be more pro-active in preventing your family from getting the flu by participating in GoViral, a real-time online cold and flu surveillance system. Researchers from New York University want to hear about your symptoms now so they can learn how to prevent them in the future by predicting future outbreaks. You’ll receive a DIY saliva collection system when you feel sick, and once you’ve gathered a sample simply send it off to their laboratory to be analyzed. Once data from the sample is aggregated with thousands of other participants’ data, you’ll get your own results back and you’ll be able to see what other infections and symptoms are occurring near you. If you know what to look for, you can take appropriate public health measures and be able to spot symptoms in yourself if something feels abnormal. All the data collected is for research purposes.
