GOAL:

Involve the public in surveys of insect biodiversity.

For an education on insects that live nearby, Bugs In Our Backyard is a great project to get you and your family learning! This collaborative citizen science project is aimed at students but anyone can participate. By surveying the diversity of insects and plants in your own backyard, you can help researchers understand the geographical distribution of insects in urban landscapes. They’ll be able to answer questions like how does insect diversity vary over time? Not only will you be enriching datasets on insects, but you’ll learn about local bugs and what kinds of habitats they like to live in.
