Peggy Liu
BIO

Peggy Liu is Chairperson of JUCCCE, the Joint US-China Collaboration on Clean Energy, a non-profit organization which aims to create an “eco-livable” China. Peggy is an expert in multi-sector collaboration, and her goal is to create change at a society level, bringing together people for the good of the environment they live in. She is a Professor at the China Academy of Governance and trains government officials on how to build cities that are ecologically sustainable. JUCCCE’s China Smart Grid Cooperative introduced the Smart Grid to China in 2007, building a network of environmentally conscious volunteers. Peggy has also advised the EAT Forum on food, the Clinton Global Initiative on clean energy, and The Hillary Institute on climate change. TIME Magazine has named her a “Hero of the Environment”, and she is a World Economic Forum Young Global Leader. Peggy has helped shape Foreign Policy's US-China relations, and Forbes magazine labeled her "Woman to Watch in Asia". She appeared in the PBS series, "Earth: The Operators’ Manual", arguing that China’s vast economies of scale in developing wind and solar technologies could help move the entire world to a cleaner energy future. Along with Ma Jun and IPE, Peggy and JUCCCE show a little known aspect of China’s environmental activities.
