Founder of the Bucket Brigade, Denny Larson, is the former Executive Director of Global Community Monitor and has over 30 years of experience as a community organizer. He is now with the Community Science Institute - CSI for Health and Justice. He works with communities impacted by industrial emissions to fight for environmental and social justice, including communities in Louisiana, Texas, Ohio, Florida, Georgia in the United States, but also globally in Southern Africa, India, Thailand, Mexico, Australia and many other locations. Denny helps develop environmental testing devices to be used by these communities to arm themselves with data and train them how to effectively communicate their own environmental campaigns. The Bucket Brigade helps community members do their own affordable air quality testing using a relatively simple device made from a plastic bag and bucket, that acts like a lung to collect air. Those samples are then tested by professionally-qualified labs to deliver high quality data. Denny has published community organizing handbooks as well as co-authored environmental legislation and regulations relating to air pollution, accident prevention, and environmental monitoring policies at a multi-governmental scale.
