David Carpenter M.D is a Public Health Physician and Director of the Institute of Health and the Environment, the University at Albany, SUNY (New York). For fifteen years he headed New York State’s reference laboratory, evaluating chemicals for their environmental and health consequences. He studies various environmental causes of human disease, especially chronic diseases that affect people of older age. His research also leads him to focus on environmental exposures that result in reductions of cognitive function in both children and adults. David partners with the World Health Organization on such issues as children’s environmental health, and participates in several international research collaborations. As described in CROWD & CLOUD Episode 2, he assisted in writing up the results of community-led Bucket Brigade air sampling efforts to secure publication in a peer-reviewed journal article.
