Benjamin is the Lead Engineer for Smartfin, an innovative data-collecting device deployed on surfboards that turns surfers into citizen scientists. He is also the Founder of BoardFormula, a surf technology consultancy. Benjamin started BoardFormula while working towards a PhD in Surfboard Fluid-structure Dynamics at the University of California San Diego, leading him to create innovative and intuitive technology for surfers. As an avid surfer, Benjamin has always held a deep appreciation for the ocean, and in helping to develop Smartfin, hopes to provide much-needed information on near-shore ocean zones.
