#CrowdCloudLIVE After each episode's WORLD premiere in April, show host, producer, and people seen on the show participated in post-premiere roundtable discussions. Viewers like you listened in, asked questions, and were able to dive deeper into the power of Citizen Science.

Watch the recorded Facebook Live events now. Discover more about how Citizen Science is revolutionizing the ways we gather, analyze, and utilize the data that fuels scientific research, discovery, and community action.

GOAL:

To promote citizen science, develop baseline data on the shoreline, and analyze change.

Ocean pollution comes in a variety of forms, such as oil spills, plastics, marine debris, and even accidentally discharged cargo from vessels at sea. When it ends up on the shore, it affects wildlife, landowners, neighborhoods, communities and municipalities. But the first people to notice pollution, usually in the form of an accumulation of flotsam and jetsam, are often engaged citizens simply walking the beach. If this is you, download the BeachObserver mobile app to record your observations and develop baseline data for scientists. Your observations can include pollution, wildlife, beached animals, and marine debris, adding yourgeo-tagged observations and photos. The app maps the network of recordings and aims to promote citizen science. Over time, the data can reveal otherwise unobtainable environmental change for researchers to study.
