GOAL:

To characterize the development of infant sleep and digestion.

The NYU Baby Sleep Study is looking for new parents to help study sleeping and digestion in babies so they can better understand and characterize normal development. With this kind of information, parents can have scientifically-informed advice on how to manage their new baby’s sleep and eating. Researchers are also hoping to recognize early signs of development disorders with the help of new parents, so they can help babies in the future be more healthy. With over 850 babies enrolled, 1.2 million sleep events, 2.1 million feeding events, and 1.3 million diaper changes logged (!!!), an extensive database is already being created. With this much data, scientists will be able to detect patterns that may otherwise go unnoticed.
