Cassandra Martin
BIO

As a Senior Field Technician with the West Oakland Environmental Indicators Project (WOEIP), Cassandra’s role is to teach volunteers how to carry out data collection in their communities. She also assists with various administrative roles in the project, volunteering her own time to ensure the health of her community by empowering neighbors and those she works with. Before working with the WOEIP, Cassandra was a Parent Liaison for the Oakland Unified School District, dedicating herself to recruiting parents for volunteering. When she found out her son had asthma, likely as a result of poor air quality in their community, Cassandra was motivated to get involved in the project. She believes that having consistent, reliable data is the key to making changes in her community.
