GOAL:

Open innovation challenge to communities and agencies on how to monitor drinking water cheaply and effectively.

Americans have been called to action by a National Drinking Water Challenge, as outlined in “The Future of Federal Citizen Science & Crowdsourcing” document straight out of the White House. In light of devastating events taking place in Flint, Philadelphia, and many more communities across the US, the government has issued an open innovation challenge. They are calling on citizen scientists to work together towards a common goal, which is to develop cheap and effective methods of monitoring water quality, including testing for lead. Oh and, there’s prizes!
