GOAL:

Track influenza in real-time across the United States.

Nobody has time for the flu. Be part of the citizen science project Flu Near You, created by epidemiologists from Harvard and Boston Children’s Hospital, to help advance flu research. Through the power of the crowd, researchers hope to gain real time information about flu symptoms across the US. This way, they can track how the illness is spreading. Flu Near You relies on voluntary participation of individuals who take only a few seconds each week to share whether they have been healthy or sick. By analyzing thousands of individual reports and mapping them to generate local and national views of influenza-like illness, you can help stop the flu from spreading. The project has expanded to Puerto Rico, adding Spanish-language materials, and is working to be able to track other diseases such as dengue fever and Zika.
