BIO

Cliff is a PhD Candidate at the Scripps Institute of Oceanography, studying the chemical space of coral reef ecosystems to better understand Earth’s ecological condition. He has a Master of Science in Chemistry, and a Master of Science in Bioengineering and Biomedical Engineering. As a San Diego Fellowship Awardee, Cliff is very interested in looking at the interface between modern science and indigenous knowledge. He has been working with the Intertribal Youth Native American Summer Program hoping to get a clearer understanding of how his research may impact the Kummeyaay people. Cliff hopes to use citizen science gathered data from Smartfin to better understand ocean salinity, temperature, and pH, to profile chemistry on reefs.
